Scientific Name: Certhia familiaris

Appearance: Similar in size to blue tit. Fine, curved bill. Prominent white or whitish stripe over eye. Upper plumage brown with cream and dark mottling. Underparts light greyish-white to silky white. Dark wings display pale and white wing bars in flight. Sexes alike.

Song: High-pitched, musical, falling trill with final flourish.

When heard: Resident. Males sing from February through to the end of breeding in June or July.
